Skinny Tyres support

Guiding you along

We believe that feeling well supported is key to enjoying every moment of your cycling adventure. We take that seriously (without being too serious ourselves!).

Here’s a breakdown of the support we provide on your cycling holiday.

Van support

Letting you set the pace

Rather than cycling alongside you, Skinny Tyres guides support you from our fully customised vans.

One of the best things about this is the freedom it gives you. Faster riders can keep their rhythm without needing to wait and regroup, while others can take their time to soak up the scenery and savour the coffee stops.

As your guide moves more swiftly on four wheels than you do on two, they can ensure everyone gets the same level of care and support along the way.

Nutritional support

Fuelling your adventure

Our support vehicle is stocked with a variety of snacks and water to keep you fuelled up and hydrated.

We stop at pre-arranged meeting points to set up our snack station, but you can also flag down the van en route if you need an energy boost.

We don’t carry sport-specific nutrition since cyclists all tend to have their favourite products and the van is not quite big enough to store such a variety of preferences!

As part of our commitment to sustainable tourism, we also encourage riders to pause at local cafés and restaurants at coffee o’clock and lunchtime.

Mechanical support

Greasing your gears

Our support vehicles are fully kitted out with tools and spares to sort most common bike issues on the spot and get you pedalling again in no time. If your bike uses any non-standard parts, we recommend bringing those spares with you.

If we can’t fix the problem there and then, we’ll do our best to source a replacement bike so you can continue on your adventure.

Daybag support

Keeping your kit handy

We recommend you pack a daybag to put on the back shelf of the van every day.

This is accessible throughout the day and can hold anything and everything you might want to grab quickly, be that extra layers, energy gels, or suncream. (All joking aside, the sun may not always be terribly hot in Scotland, but it can be very strong.)

Navigation support

Smoothing your way

We provide GPS files for your navigation device, along with daily turn-by-turn printed route notes.

Your guide is also out on the road to flag tricky junctions and to give you a reassuring wave when you’re on the right track.

First aid

Watching over you

Safety first: each support vehicle carries a comprehensive first aid kit and our guides hold outdoor first aid qualifications.

We hope it won’t be needed, but rest assured we’re always ready, just in case.

Luggage transfers

Doing the heavy work

We transfer your luggage between hotels each day.

On the rare occasion that you reach the hotel before your bags, we’ll keep you informed and get them to you as soon as we can. Our priority is always to support those on the road.
