The Itinerary
Friday evening
Arrive, settle in. Group talk about the next two day’s riding. You will also have a chance to relax and use the varied leisure facilities of the Atholl Palace Hotel including the swimming pool, resistance and aerobic gym, spa facilities and a full size snooker table
Saturday
A warm up ride around Perthshire. We will leave the hotel at 10am and head out for a 40mile ride around Loch Tummel via Calvine and Struan. Passing the infamous Jacobite battle site of Killiecrankie, you will be in the heart of Highland Perthshire. With only 500ft of climbing this is a nice easy day to warm your legs up for tommorrow and you can be guaranteed of fantastic roads that are virtually traffic free. We will stop at Kinloch Rannoch for a bowl of soup and a sandwich before returning to Pitlochry via the North shore of Loch Tummel. At the Queen’s view you can look back at one of the most iconic views in Scotland of Schiehallion.
Sunday
64 miles and 8500ft of climbing awaits you on this route that takes a bit of a detour from our other trips. We will be heading South and East to take in the stunning roads of Strath Ardle, Glenshee and Strath Braan. The day starts with a 3mile climb over 860ft and then a fast ride through Strath Ardle into Glen Shee. Turning West at Blairgowrie we take the lochs road towards historic Dunkeld where we’ll stop for lunch. Crossing the A9 we’ll then head West again along Strath Braan towards Amulree before a gradual ascent up Glen Cochill and then a very fast descent into Aberfeldy. From there the ride back along Strathtay takes you back to Pitlochry via fantastically quiet roads
Monday
Breakfast at the hotel and return home.
